The Tray That Closes
Every rolling tray has the same flaw. It is an open surface, which means the moment you want to stand up and do something else, you have to deal with whatever is on it. Tip it into something, or leave it out, or spend a minute you did not plan on.
The Equinox has a magnetic cover. Press the soft PVC lid down, it grips the metal, and the tray becomes a closed container with everything exactly where you left it. Walk away mid-session and come back an hour later to the same arrangement.
Underneath the lid it is a proper tray — thick metal at 7 by 5.5 inches, with raised curved edges that keep things in and a sun-and-moon design across the base. The kind of object that looks deliberate on a shelf instead of like equipment you left out.

Using It
- Work inside the walls. The raised edge only helps if everything happens within it.
- Press the cover down from the centre outward. That seats the magnets evenly instead of leaving one corner lifted.
- Keep it flat when it is loaded and covered. The lid holds well, but it is a cover rather than a seal — do not carry it upside down.
- Wipe the metal, not the magnets. A damp cloth on the tray; keep water away from the magnetic strip in the lid.

How strong is the magnetic lid?
Strong enough to stay shut in a drawer or a bag and to survive being knocked. It is a cover, not an airtight seal — for keeping things fresh over time, a sealed jar is the right tool.
Is 7 × 5.5 inches big enough?
It is the standard working size and the same footprint as the trays in our kits. Big enough to work on comfortably, small enough to put away.
How does this compare to the trays in the sets?
